PodGórski Dom Autysty
Welcome! We are Anna and Tomasz Górski, and we would like to share the story that inspired the creation of our Foundation.
We are the proud parents of three wonderful sons: Stanisław, Antoni, and Józef. Our middle son, Antoni, is a person with autism, and it is thanks to him that we decided to establish the Foundation. You might wonder why we say “thanks to him,” but that is precisely the perspective we have chosen to embrace.
The journey with Antek’s autism has been, and continues to be, a challenge for our entire family, as it is for many families in similar situations. The stories of families affected by autism are, in essence, quite similar. In an ordinary family, a healthy, wonderful child is born and develops typically for about two years. They babble, smile, make eye contact, play with siblings, begin to speak, and become the center of their parents’ and loved ones’ world. Suddenly, and insidiously, for reasons still unexplained, the child starts to “withdraw” and closes off from the world. The causes of autism remain largely unknown. Research is being conducted across many fields and in numerous places worldwide, but definitive causes of the condition have yet to be identified. There are many speculations and theories, and each parent tends to lean toward the explanation that resonates with them most. Yet, in the end, it doesn’t really matter because there is no cure.
This was also the case with us.
Antek is 23 years old, the time will soon come when he will finish his school education. We understood that outside the walls of school, support for adults with autism is very limited. On top of that, time passes. No one is forever and this constantly repeating thought in the head: what will happen to Antek when we are gone?
Of course he has wonderful brothers, but shouldn't they have THEIR OWN lives and the possibility of realizing THEIR plans? It is obvious to us that they must have a CHOICE, and Antek must be secured by us. We must be sure that he will lack nothing for the rest of his life and will be well looked after.
And so the idea was born that began OUR MISSION.
We decided to take matters into our own hands and set up a Foundation that would not only help Antek, but would also support many families in a similar situation. Our main goal is to create a place where adults with autism will find specialist care, understanding and the opportunity to develop in safe conditions.
With the help of friends and in rather “magical” circumstances.
We discovered a German farm in Lower Silesia that we believe is ideally suited to fulfilling the Foundation's goals. The decision was quick, but it was only the beginning. The scope of construction, renovation and organizational work is enormous.
Our dream can only be realized with YOUR support. Every little help, big or small, brings us closer to our goal of creating a center that will change the lives of many people. We encourage you to support our mission. Together we can create a place that will become a source of hope and opportunity for adults with autism and their families.
Thank you for every form of support and for wanting to be part of this extraordinary journey and bring goodness.
